Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Pittsburgh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This may be the best ramen Iβve had since being in Pittsburgh. Iβm still open to new spots as I continue my market research to recreate my own ramen at home. Located in Shadyside, this joint is so cozy making it a great midday lunch stop or an evening joint to grab dinner and a drink. Donβt sleep on the curry rice and karaage chicken either!

I ordered the Yakitori Platter, and I was impressed by both the generous portion and the great variety of skewers. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant to try the smelt at first because of the smell, but it turned out to be delicious! Itβs such a unique flavor that I keep thinking about it. Highly recommended!

Everything absolutely delicious. #1 recommendation is the smelt yakitori! I wish I had photographed the presentation. They smelled so good, we ate them up immediately. I have never had smelt grilled more perfectly. We all ordered different ramen. The broths have a delightful layered complexity, flavorful while not relying on saltiness. I had the spicy yazu. The spice level was perfect. My husband had the standard pork with spinach, and so much spinach! Really great. Brother-in-law enjoyed the seafood. It was a feast.

Fujiya Ramen was an incredible experience. After a 5-hour drive to Pittsburgh for a business deal, this meal was exactly what we needed to recharge. I ordered the spicy yuzu ramen, and it was outstanding. The broth was rich, vibrant, and packed with a unique umami flavor that warmed both your tongue and your belly. Every bite was perfectly balanced with just the right level of spice and citrus from the yuzu. We also ordered the fried pork gyoza, and they were so good that words barely describe them. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with incredible flavor. They were so delicious we ended up ordering a second round. My partner had the oyakodon, and she absolutely loved it. It was comforting, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our waitress Sophia made the whole experience even better. She was attentive, welcoming, and gave excellent food recommendations. She also recommended a delicious IPA beer, which was refreshing, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the ramen and gyoza. After such a long drive, this meal felt like Pittsburgh welcoming us with open arms. Between the amazing food and Sophiaβs great service and recommendations, this place really left an impression on us.

Special thanks to Emily and all other staff for providing one of the best service I've seen. I'd recommend Spico miso ramen or Spicy Yuzu ramen, Pork & chive gyoza (dumplings) & Shrimp tempura. Their Japanese chicken curry comes with miso soup and is decent. Loved the cute atmosphere here too. Definitely yummy food here! Can't go wrong. You can park on the street or in the lot opposite this restaurant.
